Start an automation flow when an email is sent or interacted with. This trigger can work for all email interactions or particular emails only.
How to use the "Email Activity" Trigger?
- Let's drag-drop the Email Activity trigger step on the journey's canvas. Now click on the step to choose if you want to track activity only from any email or particular emails.
- You must choose an email template if you have selected a particular email.
- Now, you have to select the activity type. You can track activity like Sent, Open, Reply, Any link click, Particular link click, Unsubscribe and Bounce.
When does this trigger fire?
- This trigger fires immediately after an activity occurs with the selected email. And the associated contact gets added to the journey flow. This trigger might get called multiple times based on the number of times the user interacts with it.
- Unsubscribe link click is handled separately from other link clicks. So if the contact clicks on the unsubscribe link, then the link click activity will not fire; you have to use the unsubscribe type of activity if you want to capture it.
Use Case
Measure the engagement score.
- Scoring the contacts who interact with our emails can give us a better idea about their interest in our products and services. E.g., If a lead has clicked on the pricing page link from the welcome email, they are probably more serious about evaluating our product.
- Here we increase their score by 5 points with a depreciating duration of 30 days. A lead will not be considered hot if the email interaction happened 30 days ago so that we can adjust the score accordingly.
