Basics of workflows, Sequences and Automation Journeys
Workflows
- Workflow saves your time by automating repetitive activities like scheduling tasks, sending email notifications or updating records based on particular conditions.
- Each workflow can have a single trigger (e.g., contact is updated), condition check, and multiple actions (e.g., send email, create activity).
- They are best suited for simple task automation but are not well suited for automating communications or end-to-end customer journeys.
- Workflows do not support any conditional branching, A/B testing, execution windows, or actions spanned over a period of time.
Sequences
- Sequences, also known as Sales Sequences or Sales Cadences, are helpful to automate sales outreach and follow-ups over a period of time using a series of emails, texts, and tasks.
- Sequences are best suited for scenarios when you want to continue to follow-up with contacts until you get a reply from them. While you use Sequences with your synced email accounts, it provides you better control over reply tracking and can auto unenroll contacts on receiving a reply. Unlike workflow and automation, it allows you to personalize the content for manual action based on customers’ reactions.
- Sequences required manual enrollment of contacts to the process and their follow-up emails and text content is finalized at the time of enrollment.
Automation Journeys
