It would be helpful if we could create layout rules for each module.
Ex. 1 If you have several divisions in your company and a field in the Contact/Company modules called Division, based on the division you choose, the fields related to that division would show.
Ex. 2 Company module is used for both customers and vendors. We have different data requirements for each. A layout rule for would be helpful in only showing the fields relevant to that company type.
Ex. 3 How did you hear about us field .... let's say there is an option called Referral. A layout rule could be used for when Referral is chosen a field called Referrer Name would show. The benefit of the layout rule in this case is that the field Referrer Name doesn't need to be shown if another option is chosen such as Facebook, Web Research.
It's a great way to organize relevant data.
