IVR Best Practices & Limitations Follow

When uploading an audio file for your IVR, make sure it meets the following requirements.

Audio File Requirements

• File Size: Up to 5 MB
• File Format: MP3 or WAV
• Preferred Format: WAV
• Channels: Mono
• Sample Rate: 8 kHz or 16 kHz

Best Practices

• Use WAV format whenever possible.
• Keep the audio in Mono format.
• Use an 8 kHz or 16 kHz sample rate.
• Avoid higher sample rates such as 44.1 kHz, as Twilio may automatically downsample the file. This can sometimes cause audio speed or length distortion.
• Keep the file size under 5 MB.
