Salesmate allows you to send images, videos, documents, and other files through text messages using either MMS or secure URL delivery. When attachments are smaller in size, they are sent directly as MMS. If the total attachment size becomes larger than 5 MB, Salesmate automatically converts the attachments into secure downloadable links so you can continue sharing large files without interruption.
This enables you to share large videos, documents, and media files without being restricted by carrier MMS limits.
Before sending large attachments through URL delivery, ensure that:
- URL Shortener is configured for your account.
- You have access to a Unified Inbox number.
For more information, see the URL Shortener setup documentation here.
How Attachment Delivery Works
Salesmate continuously calculates the combined size of all attachments added to a message.
When Total Attachment Size Is Less Than 5 MB
- MMS is selected by default.
- Attachments are delivered directly within the message.
- You can manually switch the delivery method to URL if preferred.
- Send options remain available.
When Total Attachment Size Exceeds 5 MB
- MMS becomes unavailable.
- URL delivery is automatically selected.
- Each attachment is uploaded to Salesmate's secure storage.
- Every file is converted into an individual shortened URL.
- URLs are included in the SMS message body.
Delivery Method Options
Salesmate offers two methods for sending attachments in text messages: MMS delivery and URL delivery.
MMS Delivery
MMS delivery is available when the total attachment size is less than 5 MB. Attachments are delivered directly within the text message, allowing recipients to view the media without opening a separate link. Standard MMS charges apply, and no additional storage fees are incurred.
URL Delivery
URL delivery is available for Unified Inbox numbers and is designed for sharing larger files. Instead of sending the attachment directly, Salesmate uploads the file securely and includes a shortened URL in the SMS message.
Attachments are automatically converted into shortened URLs when the total attachment size exceeds 5 MB. You can also choose URL delivery manually for smaller attachments if you prefer to share them as links.
URL delivery makes it easy to send large files and high-resolution media that exceed traditional MMS limitations.
File Limits and Retention
You can attach up to 10 files in a single message, with a combined file size of up to 500 MB.
Files shared through URL delivery are stored securely on Salesmate servers for 90 days. After this period, the links expire automatically, and the files are permanently deleted.
Note:
- The 5 MB limit is calculated using the combined size of all attachments.
- Multiple files under 5 MB each may still trigger URL delivery if their combined size exceeds 5 MB.
- URL delivery remains available even when automatic link shortening for text messages is disabled.
- Storage charges apply regardless of whether the recipient opens the attachment link.
- Files shared through URL delivery are stored securely for 90 days. After 90 days, files are automatically removed, and links will no longer be accessible
- If an attachment link is deleted manually, the associated files are also permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
