The Play a Message action lets you provide information to callers during an IVR flow without asking them to provide any input.
You can either convert text into speech using Text-to-Speech (TTS) or play a pre-recorded audio file. Once the message finishes playing, the IVR automatically continues to the next connected node.

Configure Play a Message
When you add the Play a Message action to your IVR, you can configure how the message should be played.
Message Type
Choose how you want the message to be delivered:
-
Use Text-to-speech: Converts the text you provide into speech.
-
Play an audio file: Plays a pre-recorded audio file.
- Message: Enter the message that you want the caller to hear.
- Language: Select the language that should be used for Text-to-Speech.
-
Voice: Select the voice that should be used to read your message.
The available voices depend on the selected language.
Some voices may be chargeable. If you select a chargeable voice, Salesmate displays information about the applicable charges.
-
Audio File: Upload the audio file that you want to play to the caller.
This option is available when Play an audio file is selected.
Supported formats include:
- MP3
- WAV
- AIFF
The audio file must be smaller than 5 MB.
-
Repeat the Message: Specify how many times the message should play before the IVR continues to the next node.
You can set the repeat count between 1 and 99.
Practical Example
Suppose you want to create an IVR flow in Salesmate that welcomes callers with an initial message.
Add a Play a Message action after the Start IVR step and configure the welcome message you want callers to hear.
When someone calls the configured phone number, the IVR flow starts and plays the welcome message before proceeding to the next connected action in the call flow.
