The Long Text field in Surveys allows you to collect detailed, descriptive answers from respondents. This is useful when you want people to elaborate on their feedback, share suggestions, or provide more context rather than just short answers.

Adding a Long Text Question
To include a Long text question in your survey:
- Navigate to Surveys from the left side under Outreach.
- Open your survey from the Survey listing screen.
Create a New Survey or open an existing one.
Click Add Element.
- Then select the Long Text question type.
Once you have selected the Number element, you'll need to provide the following information:
- Questions: Enter the question text that should appear in the survey.
- Placeholder: Enter a short hint or example that appears inside the input field to guide the respondent
- Mark Required: Enable this to make the Long Text field mandatory for survey submission.

Capture Value in Salesmate Field
Map the response to an existing field in Salesmate to store the answer.

You can map it to the following types of Salesmate fields:
Text
Long Text
URL
Email
Phone
This ensures that whenever this survey is filled, the captured value updates the mapped field.
You can click on Preview to see how the Long Text question will appear to respondents.
- Once the configuration is completed, hit Save.
Practical Use Case
Let’s say you've just finished an onboarding session with a customer and want to understand their experience in detail. You can add a long text question like "Please share your feedback or suggestions about today's session" to collect their in-depth thoughts in their own words.
