In this article, we will learn about how to map Shopify customer fields to Salesmate contact fields after successfully connecting Shopify to Salesmate. This ensures a smooth data flow and accurate customer information management by aligning the fields between both platforms.
Note: All contacts created via Shopify connection will have the tag ‘SM-SHOPIFY’ by default.
Steps to Map Shopify Customer Fields
- Navigate to the Profile icon in the top-right corner of your Salesmate account.
- Click on Setup.
- Go to App & Add-Ons.
- Click on E-Commerce.
- Locate Shopify and click Configure.
- Click on Connect New Store
- Once the app is installed and you begin the connection process, Salesmate will guide you through contact field mapping and related setup options.
Assign Default Contact Owner
- You’ll be prompted to assign a default contact owner for all contacts synced from Shopify.
- By default, the user who sets up the integration is selected as the owner. You can change this to another user if needed.
Add Contacts to Lists
- Choose one or more Lists where contacts imported from Shopify should be added.
- You can either:
- Select an existing list
- Or click Create New List from the dropdown menu to make a new list on the spot
Choosing Contact Type
- All contacts created via Shopify will have a default contact type selected as "Customer"
- Your created/configured contact type will be available to choose within the dropdown under "Contact Type"
- You can change the default selected type to the one which aligns with your process.
Field Mapping
- You can now map Shopify customer fields to Salesmate contact fields. The interface will display:
- Left-hand side: Shopify customer fields
- Right-hand side: Salesmate contact fields
Auto-Mapped Fields The following fields will be auto-mapped and cannot be modified:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Company
- Mobile
Address Mapping
- By default, address information from Shopify will be mapped to the Billing Details section in Salesmate.
- You may update or customize these address mappings as needed.
- Finalize Mapping
- Once field mapping is complete, click Next to proceed with the integration setup, it will redirect you to map Product Fields for Shopify
Note:
- Unmapped Fields: If a Shopify field lacks a corresponding Salesmate field, a new field can be created, similar to the Salesmate Import feature.

Data Type Mismatches: Incompatible data types (e.g., text vs. number) will trigger a warning.
“Data type mismatch. Verify field type to avoid sync issues.”- The mapping can proceed, but data may import incorrectly.
- If a list used for contact assignment is deleted post-integration, syncing will continue without errors.
- If the assigned owner is deactivated, Salesmate will prompt for a new owner selection
