When trying to connect Shopify with Salesmate, it is essential to be aware of the sync status for customers and orders imported into the platform. Let's now understand how you can go about checking for the same.
Topics Covered:
Shopify Initial Sync & Behavior in Salesmate
- When you save field mappings, the sync process starts automatically. The data is synced in the following order:
- Customers are imported as Contacts.
- Products are imported into the Products module.
- Orders are imported as Deals.
- The syncing section (Customers, Products, or Orders) currently in progress will be shown as the active tab
Sync Behavior and Rules
- The sync is one-way: changes in Shopify reflect in Salesmate, but not the other way around.
-
Duplicates are handled intelligently:
- Contacts are matched by email. If an email exists, the contact is updated (except for Owner and Contact Type); otherwise, a new contact is created.
- Orders are tracked using Shopify Order ID + Store Domain to avoid duplicates, especially if the same order ID exists across multiple stores.
- If you disconnect and reconnect the store, previous contacts are auto-mapped by email, and orders are updated using the same domain match.
Note:
- Deleted records in Shopify are not deleted in Salesmate. Also, deleting or updating data in Salesmate does not impact Shopify.
- All updates from Shopify will show “Updated by Shopify/BigCommerce Integration” in the timeline, with the store name visible on hover.
- Make sure that you have enabled the product module first before configuring BigCommerce as the integration requires the product module to be enabled.
